Aperto Implements New Web Content Infrastructure for Migros Trade Group

Aperto has optimised the web content management system of Switzerland's largest trade group. With Magnolia as the new CMS and many functional improvements, the effort has been a success: editorial processes now take less time, customers find what they're looking for much faster, and future needs will be easier to meet.

The website of Switzerland’s largest trade group is online with a brand new technological backend. The Berlin-based online service agency Aperto implemented a high-performance CMS infrastructure geared towards sustainability, with the Magnolia CMS as the editorial core of www.migros.ch. Managing content for complex corporate websites is now very flexible thanks to the commercial open source system. In view of its rapidly changing, large range of goods and services, efficient editorial processes are particularly important for Migros.

Aperto added numerous functional extensions to the system so it would be even easier and faster for editors to update content on www.migros.ch. One example of this is the new teaser management function. Thousands of special offer teasers, product teasers, special teasers, premium teasers, etc. can be easily managed from within the CMS, and more quickly found and easily used by editors. Using images is also easier now. With a click of the mouse, pictures can be uploaded with the corresponding category in the CMS, even in packets. This saves a lot of time in everyday editorial work. In addition, a helpful automatic feature was introduced: all contents for the weekly rotating, regionally varied offers are imported and then updated on the product pages nearly fully automatically. The data are exported to other applications via XML so all information channels are always up to date and synchronised. Migros customers profit from the new website, too: navigation and layout have been standardised and the search function was improved, making the entire www.migros.ch site more user-friendly.
